Some lesser-known fantasy series that are a must-read

One of the reasons why so many people enjoy reading is the fact that there are so many different genres of literature that everyone can find something interesting. Some people prefer poetry to prose, for example. Those who opt for prose may like fiction better than non-fiction. Some people may be so particular when it comes to books that they like only one genre.

If you are into reading fantasy books, most likely you have already read The Lord of the Rings or the Harry Potter series of novels. These are definitely among the most popular fantasy novels around the world at the moment, but there are many more other fantasy novels that are worth your attention. Of course, it is clear that even though two people who like the same genre may not like the same book that belongs to that genre, I am sure that these lesser-known fantasy books won’t disappoint you.

A Bridge Of Birds by Barry Hughart

If you are looking for something completely different, then A Bridge of Birds is the right book for you. This amazing fantasy novel is part of The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox and it tells a story about the misadventures of the main characters Master Li and Ox that take place in ancient China.

Man of His Word by Dave Duncan

This fantasy novel is quite unique because it tells a story full of unique magic. The plot may seem just like another romance story as it revolves around a princess and a stable boy, but what makes this story so interesting is the fact that the main characters have unusual magic skills. The more your read, the more you learn about the unique magic system and you get hooked.

Garrett, P.I. series by Glen Cook

Garret, P.I. series is another amazing series of lesser-known fantasy books. Unfortunately, it is overshadowed by Cook’s The Black Company, so many readers don’t get a chance to get familiar with this series. The plot follows Garrett’s adventures in a magical city called TunFaire, which is filled with elves, ogres, dwarves, and many more magical entities, making each new page more interesting than the previous. You can notice Cook’s unique sense of humor in this series as well.

The list of underrated fantasy books doesn’t end here for sure. Some other books that you should check out include The Acts of Caine, The Coldfire, The Chronicles of Amber, and many more. Although the chances that you will like a world-famous book are pretty high, you shouldn’t stick to such books only. You should give a chance to lesser-known books and let yourself be delighted.
