Create, organize, edit – best writing tools for you

It is much different to be a writer nowadays than, for example, 100 years ago. In the past, the only things that most writers needed were a pencil, a piece of paper, and creativity. However, it was much harder to organize books and keep them well-written long ago. Nowadays, this is much easier because you can use your computer to do everything. Even though this is the most common way of writing today, many people still prefer using the old way, by taking the pen and writing on a piece of paper.

If you are interested in writing on the computer, you can make use of numerous programs that can help you create, edit, organize your work and even help you when you don’t know how to fix passive voice. Although you may already be familiar with some of these programs, it is useful to take a closer look at them again and discuss their advantages and disadvantages.

Microsoft Word

This piece of software has been around for many years and it has helped a lot of people who want to write essays, articles, novels, short stories, and many more. Basically, anything can be done with Microsoft Word. It is probably the most complete writing program and it is the best choice for writing longer documents that have many sections and paragraphs because of its formatting capabilities. All the basic features have been updated over the years and the newest Word is the perfect program to start your work.

Grammarly

This program is a little bit different. It’s not your basic writing program where you just write and organize your document. It’s specifically designed to correct your grammar and spelling mistakes and to change the document the way you want it. It can be installed as a plugin on many browsers and it automatically detects and corrects your mistakes while you are writing. It’s an amazing tool if you are not sure about spelling or some grammar rule and you don’t want to lose time on checking a dictionary. You just need to install the plugin and you’re ready to go.

Google Docs

Google Docs hasn’t been around for that many years as Microsoft Word but it is very similar to it and that’s what makes it a perfect web word processor. It has similar options like Word, though its design is a bit different. If you don’t want to install any programs on your computer, Google Docs is the best option for you. It’s free and it allows you to save all your documents online so that you don’t need to be worried about someone deleting your work or losing your documents if your computer breaks down.

Scrivener

Even though many people recommend Microsoft Word when you start your writing experience, there are some other programs that are also very popular among writers. In fact, many writers think that Scrivener is the best program. If you’re a writer, you have probably heard of this program and you probably know about its great advantages. It has quite a big panel for you to work on and it allows you to easily export data to many digital platforms specially designed for writers. Actually, many users think that this is one of its best features in fact. What’s more, Scrivener is really good at keeping your work organized. This is very useful for fiction writers because the program can help them create the plot or the characters more easily.

In conclusion, if you want to write using your computer, all of these programs can be of great help. It is up to you to choose the most suitable for your own purposes.
