HOT DAMN ARE THOSE GOOD-LOOKING BOOKS OR WHAT. How foxy would you look reading these editions in cocktail attire, hmm? Pretty fucking foxy. Total genius Coralie Bickford-Smith's cover designs for Penguin UK Hardback Classics. Out in November JUST IN TIME TO BUY THIS WHOLE SERIES FOR THE REJECTIONIST AS A HOLIDAY PRESENT AHEM DEAR UK AUTHOR-FRIENDS.
A dust jacket like that could make a girl leave her iPad at home.
Well, not me. But some girl.
Also, why do UK editions get all the cool covers (I'm looking at you Harry Potter and Silence of the Lambs)?
Those covers simply insist on being held by turbaned ladies in languorous silhouette, the other hand displaying martini glass or long cigarette holder . . .
They look like motel wallpaper
That's called "art deco," Ben. Maybe they don't have culture where you live.
i'm so attracted it's embarrassing.
*fans self*
They really ARE fabulous! I want a set, and Fitzgerald isn't even on my favorites list. They should put out a set for dead Russians.
Le R, have you checked out Persephone books? Covers and flyleafs (leaves?) to die for.
See also Penguin's special 75th anniversary website.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
I want every single one of her clothbound designs, for the purpose of decorating the rooms in my future Author Mansion in the style of each cover. Verdict is still out on which should be the bedroom theme.
Sorry but no can do, will be draped in these lovelies, sweetie darling.
Oh, lovely. I could be persuaded to enter into a trade of some sort for these beauties.
Very attractive!
I've sort of been drooling over her Gothic Horror set for awhile. So purdy.
Dear Le R.
I live in the boonies. My walls are made out of plywood. These jackets are liberal madness. I do like Fitzgerald though
We have also lived in the boonies with plywood walls (and NO INDOOR PLUMBING, thank you); we still know what Art Deco is. Heh.
Oh shite. Rejectiown3d
