We're Not Dead

Just lying inert on the floor with a fan pointed at our head and a number of wet towels draped about our person. We will return when we are capable of forming coherent sentences! i.e. when it is not one hundred degrees! REJECTIONISTS! DO! NOT! LIKE! TO! BE! HOT!
In the meantime, why don't you go tour Bookshelf Porn, our favorite new blog! WHY IS THIS NOT OUR HOUSE IT'S A GUEST HOUSE THEY'RE NOT EVEN USING IT! Here is a drool-worthy assemblage of 45 beautifully designed book covers! Here is a project we are very dorkily excited about! Last but not least (and totally unrelated) we present an utterly charming series of Star Wars fashion illustrations by John Woo! JANGO FETT IN CDG OMG ADORBS!
Oooh! They have the Tom Spanbauer's Faraway Places in that cover collection! Great book, and the cover is even more gorgeous in person. A nicely put together little book, that one. I have the Karen Maitland one, too, Company of Liars.
Off to nuzzle them...
(That's not strange, right?)
Just take a trip down here to Texas and hang for awhile and you'd acclimate fine.
As the boxes quickly diminish, our new townhouse could handle a temporary addition if you and the support team need a place with central air. Let me tell you, the basement is always cool. It's AWESOME! (And we have a new sectional couch that is so absurdly comfortable, I've considered sleeping down there instead of in my bed in the loft [which is much warmer].)
New Hampshire isn't that far away. :)
Mmm... Delicious, judgeable book covers.
So many of those 45 go out of their way to evoke paper textures. Like designers these days have a desperate, unfulfilled craving for pulp.
Or they think readers do.
Or both.
We Floridians don't start to sweat until the temps hit 90 or so.
However, since the wisest of us spend 8 months of the year in a swimsuit (plus flips and a tee to dress up off the beach), the heat really isn't that bothersome.
Office jobs with layers of clothes and shoes just plain suck. Not to mention there is no surf Up North, and the ocean temps are warm only to penguins and such.
This global warming is killing me. It was 61F in Anchorage today. I was down to just a flannel shirt and fleece jacket when I took the dog for a walk. What next? 70F?!
P.S.
Am shipping chunks of iceberg to Rejectionist. (While there are still icebergs to chunk.)
Love the links!
Keith,
Flannel and fleece... what's that? I don't remember.
Ah, the lovely Midwest. We get the best/worst of all seasons.
Sometimes your awesome is stunning. Beautiful book cover design and Star Wars fashion<--you may as well be wooing me, yet we are already affianced.
Is it a littl bit sad that when I saw the two words "bookshelf" and "porn", I was hoping on hope for *exactly* what the website offers?
Sigh. That's just dreamy.
Stay cool, lady. It's 103 here in the DC metro area too. I feel you...spontaneous human combustion draws nigh...
In Jersey, we've got triple digits + humidity + attitude - central air.
Does not make for a happy Author Friend. (Make that Author Fried.)
It's too blinking hot here as well. The bookshelves do help though! :)
For you, Shirin Dubbin, we will even smell like Old Spice.
