Holy crap, those unicorns and rainbows are getting to you! Thanks for nurturing our egos today though ;) Now, could you please like, swear a little so I know you're really okay in there?!
These editorial assessments bring to light a heretofore unvisited thought: many of these books that we now consider classics were probably very controversial in their day. These topics weren't written about until these authors wrote about them. Yummy food for thought on a Friday. Thanks, Le R!
I really, really want to be a publisher now. 'Good God, I can't publish this!' HA. :) Is it weird that I imagine that being said in a British accent? yes? Okay.
I was just about to say I was surprised no one had complained that at least those rejections were personalized. Thanks for taking care of that, Wildheit!
Laurel: Examiner.com is messing with our minds. If I go to the article, it says it is from the nearest major city. But if I go back using a proxy IP, suddenly I am in Houston. (Hint: I am not anywhere near Houston.)
But there are still lots of other cool things from Georgia! Just because I can't think of any right now... OH! PUPPET MUSEUM! You have a puppet museum. Be proud.
@ Wildheit: a leper trying to sell skin lotion. I am slain.
@ Tricerophat: Drat. I should have known that nothing good could come from a metro area so clouded with paper mill farts.
The puppet museum is in Atlanta, which is so cool I'm not sure it qualifies as being in Georgia. Lord knows all the actual residents are from New York or New Jersey.
Le R., How did you know that I just passed the 9 week mark waiting for word from a place which says they'll respond within 8-10 weeks? And that I know they're making happy calls today and &&*^%#^%$&@ phone has not rung? Why no, I'm not feeling stabby, WHY DO YOU ASK?
Well at least, since they've made form rejections, publishers and agents shouldn't have to worry about writing stuff like "Good God, this will never sell" and then having it be the next mega-bestseller.
Laurel, you have the very cool song Georgia On My Mind, which I love singing all sultry like (but not as much as I'd love singing it if I actually knew all the words). And Devil Went Down to Georgia is pretty cool too but it always makes me wish I could play the fiddle.
The Anti-Rejectionist! Hope for the masses!

I always love reading stuff like that. Thanks!
Dear Kimberly, THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER FUCKING PLACE IF JACK FUCKING KEROUAC HAD FUCKING STAYED REJECTED. Heh.

I had no idea that an 8-yo was the reason JK Rowling was published - it just goes to show that adults don't always know what they're talking about. :)
Thank you LeR!! It warms the cockles and dark recesses of our hearts to know that others suffered the lash too.
Enjoy your weekend.
Y'all can cheer and celebrate that good did triumph over evil for these authors. And everyone is now laughing at their rejectors.
I'm just thrilled something as cool as this article that isn't football came out of Georgia! WooHOO!
I'll be able to say the same thing one day. Hopefully.
I thought I'd heard all these tales, but nope! Some new ones in there. AWESOME.
Thank you for ruining my evening.
Not only have those bastards been published, even their rejection slips have something noteworthy.
Mine are all lame form rejections going "not for me, good luck elsewhere!" which is starting to make me feel like a leper trying to sell skin lotion.
Okay, W-H-E-W. I feel so much better now that the F bomb has been sufficiently dropped. And in reference to Jack Kerouac, no less.
Ah. Fridays are good.
this is quite inspiring, mostly in the sense that rejection shows stupidity on the publishers part.
gotta love cummings' nerve!

You rock! Seriously.
Have a great weekend! :-)
Thanks!
Great collection, and the amazing part is it only touches the surface.
You can find more dejected authors here, and this site shows how even top actors, musicians, artists, and athletes don't get any respect.
I wonder if any authors replied, "Thank you for your personal and thought provoking response."
i love you just incase you forgot.
